Charlotte, NC —This evening, Congresswoman Adams returned to Charlotte, North Carolina where she met with local leaders regarding the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott. Following the meeting, she released the following statement.
WASHINGTON, DC —Today Congresswoman Adams announced that she will return to Charlotte, NC Wednesday evening following final votes to meet with local officials and community leaders.
Congresswoman Adams will receive updates on the ongoing investigation of the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott and protests taking place around the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area.
Earlier, Congresswoman Adams had private calls with the NAACP, the Department of Justice and Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts.
WASHINGTON, DC — "Earlier this morning I had a call with Mayor Jennifer Roberts; I will continue to work closely with all City officials and community leaders as this case develops. I understand all too well the emotions that many Charlotteans and people all across the nation are feeling. However, violence is not the answer. We have to work together to ensure there is a transparent process and the family of Mr. Keith Lamont Scott and our city gets justice and the answers they deserve.
