Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after Senate Republicans released their version of Trumpcare.

"Trumpcare is the death knell of the American healthcare system, said Congresswoman Adams. "The Senate's bill will destabilize the market place, causing providers like Blue Cross Blue Shield to hike their rates by 23%, putting healthcare out of reach for millions of Americans. For people like me who suffer from Type II diabetes, a loss of coverage is a risk we can't afford to take.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) and 200 Members of Congress have filed a federal lawsuit against President Trump for violating one of the Constitution's critical anti-corruption provisions: the Foreign Emoluments Clause. The emoluments clause prohibits the President from accepting foreign payments without seeking and receiving Congressional authorization.

Washington, D.C.—Today, Small Business Committee Vice-Ranking Member Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) presided over the mark up and offered an amendment to H.R. 2594 The Small Business Payment for Performance Act. The amendment directs agencies to report the metrics of construction contracts, such as the demographics of the small businesses they contract with and the number of changes to an order they request during a project, to Congress.

"Today's shooting is a tragic reminder of the rising animosity and tensions in our country", said Congresswoman Adams.

Washington, D.C.—This week, the Adams Hunger Coalition sponsored their second quarterly meeting of the year to discuss increased community engagement and the need for ongoing economic development in impoverished areas of Mecklenburg County. Meeting participants highlighted the work their organizations are doing to combat food insecurity in Mecklenburg County and asked for continued support from local elected officials. This meeting was hosted by Mecklenburg County.

Butterfield (NC-01) and Congressman David Price (NC-04), to the Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives Tim Moore and Senate Pro Tempore Phil Berger urging them to increase access to the ballot box by establishing an independent redistricting commission and refraining from creating any new voter ID laws that contribute to voter suppression.
