WASHINGTON, DC— Yesterday Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) co-sponsored her first bill with Assistant Democratic Leader, James Clyburn, and other Members of the Congressional Black Caucus to introduce H.R. 295, to reauthorize the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Historic Preservation Program. Rep. Adams is an original co-sponsor on H.R. 295 and made the following statement regarding her support of this important legislation:
WASHINGTON, DC— Today Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) gave a one minute speech on the House Floor urging Republicans to bring a clean DHS Funding Bill to the Floor. The content of the speech is below:
"Mr. Speaker I rise today to urge my Republican colleagues to stop toying with our Nation's security. Disrupting funding to the Department of Homeland Security is an extreme and reckless form of partisan politics.

WASHINGTON, DC— Today Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) was sworn in to serve a full 2 year term as the U.S. Representative of the 12th Congressional District of North Carolina. Congresswoman Adams won a special election and the general election in November 2014. She was sworn in on November 12, 2014 to finish the term of former Congressman Mel Watt and today was sworn in for a full 2 year term in the 114th Congress. Adams is the first woman to represent the district, the second African-American woman to represent North Carolina in the U.S.
