Washington, D.C.—Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after the second government shutdown in less than one month.

"This avoidable crisis is a self-inflicted wound by Republicans," said Congresswoman Adams. "Since the last shutdown, there have been no hearings, no debates, and no opportunity to address the challenges facing our nation. Now, Republican's inability to govern will have grave consequences for our country."

"We were deeply disturbed and offended by President Trump's remarks regarding Haiti and African countries," U.S. Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) and Committee on the Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jerold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said at a news conference on Jan. 18.

The ruling came late Tuesday from a panel of three federal judges: North Carolina's congressional district maps were found, yet again, to be unconstitutional.

District maps were redrawn in 2011 after the release of 2010 census data.
