Washington, D.C. – A bill introduced by Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D., (NC-12) to strengthen partnerships between Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and federal agencies. The HBCU Propelling Agency Relationships Towards a New Era of Results for Students (PARTNERS) Act passed the House today. The bill previously passed the Senate; should it pass the Senate as amended and be signed into law, this legislation will strengthen partnerships between federal agencies and the country's more than 100 HBCUs.
Washington, D.C. – A bill introduced by Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D., (NC-12) to name a Charlotte Post Office in honor of civil rights legend Julius Chambers passed the Senate and was signed into law by President Donald Trump last night. H.R. 4981 is Adams' second bill to rename a US Post Office facility after a civil rights icon to be enacted, joining a 2016 measure to rename the Center City Post Office in Winston-Salem, North Carolina after the poet Maya Angelou.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This Thanksgiving season, 16 Members of Congress joined Congresswoman Alma Adams as well as U.S. Senators Kamala D. Harris (D-CA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT), among others, in supporting the Closing the Meal Gap Act, legislation that expands and strengthens Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for vulnerable community members that are struggling to make ends meet.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In August of 2o2o, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12), Vice Chair of the House's Committee on Agriculture, introduced the Local and Regional Farmer and Market Support Act (Local Farmer Act) to help save the farmers, farms, and families hardest hit by COVID-19. The Local Farmer Act would address concerns about these farmers by targeting aid directly to local and regional food producers and markets as they cope with the economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.
