WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) released the following statement in response to a report of subpoenas issued by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina to the North Carolina State Board of Elections requesting all voting records for the 44 counties of the Eastern District from January 1, 2010 to August 30, 2018 and August 30, 2013 to August 30, 2018, respectively.

Clarke (NY-09), introduced the Maternal Care Access and Reducing Emergencies (CARE) Act, a bill to reduce the racial disparities in maternal mortality and morbidity. The maternal mortality rate in the United States has increased over the past 25 years, in comparison to many other nations. Washington, D.C. – A coordinated effort between United Way of Central Carolinas (UWCC) and local nonprofits, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D., and political leaders has resulted in $628,068 of Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) funding for Mecklenburg County. The funding comes after the disappointing news in May that Mecklenburg County no longer met the established thresholds. The loss of EFSP funding would have deprived local organizations that provide food and shelter for Mecklenburg County's most vulnerable residents.
